Lead time is the total time it takes from when you place your packaging order to when you receive it. Several things contribute to this timeframe.
For packaging made in the US, lead time includes a few key steps. First, we check if we have the necessary materials in stock. If we do, great! We can move on to the next step. However, if a material is out of stock (backorder), it adds extra time to the process. We have to order that material from our suppliers, and it takes time for them to produce it and ship it to our warehouse. This delay can vary depending on the specific material and our supplier's lead times. Once the material arrives, we can then schedule your order for printing. Finally, we prepare your finished packaging for shipping, which involves scheduling freight and delivery. Each of these steps, including the potential backorder delay, adds to the overall lead time.
Imported packaging has an even more complex process. Currently, shipping from overseas is experiencing delays of 12-15 weeks due to the situation in the Red Sea. Normally, this shipping time is closer to 9-12 weeks. Before the shipment even happens, the packaging has to be scheduled for production, which can take 40-45 days. Because of the high volume of orders, there are no faster scheduling options available.
At All Pack Supply, we work hard to minimize lead times. We analyze past orders and market trends to predict future needs. This helps us keep the right materials in stock and plan production in advance. This proactive approach helps reduce potential delays.
We know every business is different, so we work with each customer to understand their specific needs and provide accurate lead time estimates. Open communication is essential.
Understanding lead times is vital for your business. Knowing what affects these timelines helps you make informed decisions about your packaging. Planning ahead, forecasting your needs, and communicating with us are key to a smooth supply chain.
